Bordeaux is the original home of Merlot wine, although now it's grow widely around the world. Chile makes some great Merlot as does Australia! It's a soft and fruity wine with often a plummy flavour. You may also detect a black pepper flavour to your merlot wine, or a coffee or fruitcake taste. It's a low acidity wine with low tannin levels. It ages well! You can serve this with red meats and games (especially those more mild flavoured ones), pork and poultry.
